I'm Upgrading My Chinese CNC3040 Spindle to a More Powerful 1.5kw Unit. My existing 300w spindle on my Chinese CNC3040 machine was struggling with cutting hard wood and aluminum, so I decided to upgrade it to a more powerful 1.5kw unit. Some people have been modifying their machines by cutting the part and welding the spindle clamp directly onto the Z-axis carriage, which is not only cost-effective but also doesn't damage any of the original parts. I chose to use this method and designed a simple 3D print to replace the clamp. To ensure that my upgrade was sturdy enough, I printed the replacement clamp with an 80% infill density, which turned out to be very firm and resistant to heavy loads - in my case, almost 10kg of weight on a bicycle stand. Based on my calculations, the combined weight of the upgraded spindle, clamp, and carriage plate should be under 5kg.
