China Board Game upgraded tokens
thingiverse
Let me begin by stating this is my first attempt at designing anything for 3D printing. I have only been 3D printing for a couple months. So, if you have any criticism, please help by making it constructive. All of the included STL files are either very basic creations on my part, or files by others that have been edited and adapted for the game China (credit and the original links noted in the comments below). Although I do not need any financial tips, I would appreciate knowing that these files are hitting the tabletop when you pull out your copy of China. So, please use the comment section to post your thoughts, photos, and requests for upgraded components in other games. I tried to keep all upgraded tokens around the same size as their original components. House. Yes, despite the appearance, the game rules actually list the Chinese castle looking tokens as houses. There are not a lot of files out there that meet this criterion. There is a great Rising Sun file, but the model is of an actual Japanese castle (and I do not want to propagate the notion that Chinese and Japanese culture are interchangeable). The chosen file was decreased in total size, stretched in height, and then I added a base. Original file here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4360331/files (Although it is more generic, if you know of a better file, please contact me) Fortification. You can use the original fortifications, as the new houses are approximately the same size as the original houses. However, the new fortifications have a lip designed to accommodate the new houses. This means that the houses will not slide off the fortifications during gameplay. This is a simple design I created for this purpose. Emissary. I resized a file of Confucius and stretched its height to accentuate some of his features (hands, robe, and hat), as many details are lost printing this small. Then I added a thick circular base (kind of an homage to the ridiculous cylinders that currently represent the emissary in the game). Original file here: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/art/confucius-statue I would consider the next two files optional, as they only make an appearance at the end of the game. Scoring Marker. If you are going to have a round disc in a game about China that is associated with numbers, it might as well be a coin. I increased the diameter and thickness of the original file. It currently prints two sides of a coin which are not necessary in the game. So, to keep the height of the scoring marker relative to the original token, lower the file 1.5 mm below the printing surface before printing. Original file here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3904944 Emperor. As with the emissary, I used the same Confucius file with some size adjustments and then I added base. See Emissary file. NOTE: There may be minor stringing between the towers on the house (simply tweezer it out). Eventually I had to print the houses with a brim (one corner kept peeling from the plate). It is a bit of a hassle for cleaning, but worth it in the end (hopefully you don’t have that issue).
