Chimpanzee Right Arm Skeleton
sketchfab
The chimpanzee skeleton's right arm is on display at the Peabody Museum of Natural History, where a fluid-preserved specimen of Pan troglodytes (YPM Mam 015939) draws attention. The fingertips have been carefully removed from this remarkable specimen. Karina Riddell created this digital model using Volumegraphics VGStudioMax 3.3 software, which was based on a CT scan produced by the Yale Translational Research Imaging Center (Y-TRIC). This 3D model was designed to enhance learning during the UF Center for Precollegiate Education and Training workshop titled "3D Vertebrates: From Museum Shelves to Classrooms." Funding for scanning and modeling of this chimpanzee skeleton came from the oVert project at the University of Florida (NSF DBI 1701714, https://tinyurl.com/oVertwiki). The CT scan data are available online at: https://www.morphosource.org/Detail/SpecimenDetail/Show/specimen_id/15228
