Chimney sweeper kid Cuthbert

Named as Cuthbert, a scrappy young apprentice in the trade, Bert navigates his days amidst the grime and soot of London's chimneys. Floyd Griffiths, his master sweep, is known to bellow through the flues with his guttural voice, urging Cuthbert on with coarse words like "Hurry up, lad! What's taking you so long? You've got a small brain for thinking, don't you?" or "Get a move on, Hugh! We ain't got all day to sweep just one chimney if you want supper more than water!" The master's tone is often harsh, but Cuthbert stands firm, unafraid of the man's wrath. In fact, when Floyd is out of earshot, Cuthbert lets loose with his own brand of insults, calling him names that would make even the most seasoned ruffian blush.
