Chimney Base Fragment & Wrench - Govan Ironworks

Chimney Base Fragment & Wrench - Govan Ironworks

sketchfab

Archaeologists unearthed a partially restored 3D model of the fragmented chimney base in Area 1's southeastern section during Rathmell Archaeology's 2018 winter excavations at Govan Ironworks, a 19th-century industrial site. The recovered chimney base was part of the forge building within the malleable iron department. Nearby, an iron wrench lay exposed, potentially used by an ironworks employee or perhaps on railway lines closely associated with the facility.
