chimera fan mount
thingiverse
This is a 50x15 radial fan duct designed specifically for the E3D Chimera hotend. It's built to be mounted directly onto the chimera heatsink, nestled snugly between the heatsink and cooling fan. To ensure even airflow distribution between the two ducts, the designs were thoroughly tested using SolidWorks flow simulations. This file contains three unique variations: Fan Duct Direct No Probe: This straightforward design features a split fan duct with one duct pointing directly at each nozzle on the Chimera. Fan Duct With 12mm Probe Mount: This variation also points directly at the nozzles but includes a mounting point for 12mm induction probes, set 50mm to the right of the right nozzle. Fan Duct With Probe Clearance: Use this model only if you have an induction probe positioned to the right of the hotend. It accommodates existing probes on the extruder carriage, but sacrifices some direct cooling from the right duct due to its simplicity. Get ready to print and take your overhangs to the next level with more efficient cooling! Print Settings: Printer: Anet A8 Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Yes Resolution: 200 microns Infill: 100% Notes: .stl files are pre-rotated for optimal print orientation, but feel free to experiment if you prefer a different approach. Print with supports generated only from the build plate. Be cautious not to place supports inside the ducts unless using soluble supports, as they may get stuck. How I Designed This: This design was created with precision and attention to detail, keeping in mind the unique requirements of the E3D Chimera hotend. By carefully balancing airflow distribution and accommodating various probe configurations, this fan duct is poised to revolutionize your 3D printing experience.
