I'm designing a custom mount for my Creality CR-10 that replaces the stock 30mm fan with a 40mm one, using the Chimera+ design. This new part allows users to upgrade their printer's cooling system and will be followed by another design for a separate Chimera+ mount. The mount was printed with 20% infill and minimal support touching the build plate, resulting in a clean and precise finish. When paired with my other designs, the part cooling fan setup is now more efficient and effective. To address this need, I've designed a mount that enables front-mounted part cooling fans without sacrificing print volume or increasing support requirements. The design aims to preserve x and y dimensions for both nozzles, while only losing around 1-2cm in z-height due to the added fan housing. A key consideration was ensuring the leveling screws on the heatsink remain accessible. To achieve this, I've positioned them in a way that maintains clearance for easy adjustment. For optimal airflow and pressure, I chose to use a 5015 blower instead of a standard fan. This upgrade not only improves cooling performance but also provides a higher air pressure output. The mount consists of two separate parts that can be easily assembled using standard M3 screws. The design's flexibility allows users to swap or remix the part cooling duct with ease, making it an ideal solution for upgrading their printer's cooling system.
