The Choir of Luca della Robbia is a masterpiece of early Florentine Renaissance craftsmanship, sculpted by skilled artisans between 1431 and 1438. The original choir, led by Luca della Robbia himself, was strategically positioned on a north-facing wall, bathed in the warm light pouring from the south. The work's design follows the precise renaissance logic pioneered by Brunelleschi, with a sturdy box-like structure supported by five shelves adorned with elegant garlands and scrolls. Five fluted pilasters with Corinthian capitals rise on each shelf and edge, creating four square spaces on the front and two rectangular ones on the sides. Ten intricately carved panels in low relief are nestled between these spaces, adding depth and visual interest to the overall composition. The Choir of Luca della Robbia is a testament to the artistic genius of its creators, showcasing their mastery of technique and attention to detail.
