The Luca della Robbia Choir is a masterpiece carved for the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence, now preserved at the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo, directly facing Donatello's work. The Imperial Academy of Arts in Russia boasts a cast of these sculptures. Considered one of the early Florentine Renaissance's finest works, it was sculpted between 1431 and 1438 and stands 348 cm tall. The choir led by Luca benefited from its placement on a north-facing wall, which was illuminated by light pouring in from the south. The work is designed as a box supported by five shelves, adorned with garlands and scrolls. Its overall architecture adheres to the clear renaissance logic pioneered by Brunelleschi. On each shelf and edge, paired fluted pilasters rise, topped with Corinthian capitals. This creates four square spaces on the front and two rectangular ones on the sides, where low-relief panels are located. Ten panels in total are placed between the shelves.
