Child safety lock for can crusher
thingiverse
I designed this toddler-safe can crusher because no locks were available for purchase. The lock and reinforcement should be printed in opposite directions to maximize flexibility. Check the Cura screenshot for orientation guidance on locking direction, which will ensure optimal flex. In contrast, the reinforcement is printed perpendicular to alleviate pressure along the print seam, the weakest point. A masonry screw used to hold the crusher on the wall keeps this toddler-safe can crusher securely in place. Keep in mind that printing with PLA may allow moisture into the print over time, making it more brittle. PETG might be a better material choice for elasticity and strength, but I haven't tried printing one yet.
