Child Choking Hazard Tester

Child Choking Hazard Tester

thingiverse

This toy and product testing device known as a choke tube is a specially-shaped tube approximating the size of the throat of a child under 3 years old. Though the existence of this device is a bit morbid, us 3D printers and 3D designers need to take extra care when printing objects for small children to keep our kids, nieces, nephews, and grandkids safe. Having this object sitting next to my printing station has been a helpful reminder to test and be thoughtful about safe sizes and shapes! To use the choke tube, place the toy or product under test into either side of the choke tube. If the product does not extend out the end of the choke tube, it poses a choking hazard to children under 3 years of age. If the product extends out of the choke tube, use your discretion as to whether the product poses a choking hazard.
