The Church of Our Lady of Mercy in Penne is located in Madonna della Pietà district, beneath the road leading to Chieti and above the new sports center of Penne. This church was abandoned for the first time, then restored in Baroque style and now abandoned again. Currently, it is without a roof and damaged at various points. The bare interior devoid of any furnishings is now exposed to the elements and the stuccos are deteriorating. The structure has a single nave plan with lateral niches probably topped by a collapsed barrel vault. The presbytery area is covered by a dome on pendants protected by a partially collapsed covering in tiles and slates. The facade has a gable roof shape and shows signs of the trusses of a pre-existing portico in front of it, of which testimony is given by the only leftmost pillar.
