This is a Heavy Duty Poultry Fountain. I designed this to be long-lasting and durable enough for everyday use by brooder chicks from hatch to several months old. Its compact size makes it perfect for fitting into small spaces like boxes or pens without taking up too much room. I created this design based on the style of chicken fountains available online, but with a focus on making it more sturdy and less prone to damage. If you need another one, I've made it easy to print a replacement. To prevent chicks from drowning, I designed the water area to be safe and secure, but please keep an eye on your chicks as they can fall asleep in the water and drown easily. I also wanted to make it difficult for them to poop in the fountain, so I included features like a wide jar and tall design that keeps them off the water. This makes cleaning easier and prevents messes. This poultry fountain is designed to work with standard mouth canning jars, such as Mason jars or Atlas jars with a regular thread size. You can also use other common jar sizes, like ball canning jars or jam jars, as long as they have a regular-sized mouth. I've successfully used this design to support 6 chicks, and I clean and refill it twice a day. Based on my experience, I estimate that this should be suitable for around 10 chicks, assuming it's kept clean and well-maintained. The fountain is also top rack dishwasher safe, making cleaning easy. Please note that you may need to scale up the design slightly in your slicer, as indicated in the printing notes. On June 22, 2020, I updated the design to remove a lower fill channel that was causing a siphon effect and pulling dirty water back into the reservoir jar. The latest version is available under the name Chicken Water 6.stl.
