chicken swing
thingiverse
I'm getting backyard chickens. I saw they sold chicken swings for 20-30 dollars, so I figured I'd have some fun and make my own. This is a pretty easy print, and it's very sturdy. You'll need a half-inch wooden dowel, key rings, and some rope or chain to get started. There are two end pieces that you need to print twice - one for each side. You can also print as many middle spacer pieces as you want, using them as spacers to widen the swing to your desired width. With one spacer between the end pieces, it measures around 20 inches or 51 centimeters. If you want, you can use some glue, but I didn't need it - the press fit was very tight, and it feels plenty sturdy for even eight-pound birds. I printed the rope attachments out of PETG and the actual swing bottom out of banana yellow PLA.
