Chicken feeding trough
thingiverse
For my dozen little chicks, I designed this feeding trough that can hold a considerable amount of chicken food. Only the yellow lid and the base part are printed, while the grey middle section is a regular PVC tube obtained from the hardware store for approximately 2.5 euros. It stands at 55cm tall with an outer diameter of about 11cm. The bottom part features an inward-facing upper edge that prevents the chicks from pawing out all the food. The base area is slightly oval in shape to maximize the print space offered by my printer (21x25cm). The PVC tube fits the yellow printed parts snugly, and if your printer has any tolerances, you may need to widen the models slightly. So far, I am extremely pleased with the result. It prints smoothly on my Prusa I3 MK3, and the chicks seem to like it as well :)
