The Chicago White Sox are a major professional baseball team based in the heart of Chicago's South Side, Illinois. They are part of the Central division in American League Baseball (AL). The White Sox play their home games at U.S. Cellular Field with great enthusiasm and energy every year. One of two top-tier teams in Chicago, they are known as a powerhouse in Major League Baseball. Established as a major league baseball team in 1900, the Chicago White Stockings were initially formed with a strong defense-oriented lineup, earning them the nickname "the Hitless Wonders." After years of playing at South Side Park, they moved to Comiskey Park in 1910 and stayed there for eight decades. The White Sox have won numerous championships over the years. In 1906, they took home the World Series with a stellar defense team. Four years later, in 1917, they dominated the series once again led by legendary players Eddie Cicotte, Eddie Collins, and Shoeless Joe Jackson. However, their success was marred by the infamous Black Sox Scandal of 1919, which saw several key players accused of conspiring with gamblers to fix games. In response, Major League Baseball's new Commissioner Kenesaw Mountain Landis took drastic action, banning the players from professional baseball for life. Fast forward to 1959, and the White Sox were back on top, led by Early Wynn, Nellie Fox, Luis Aparicio, and manager Al Lopez. Their winning streak continued in 2005 when they captured both the American League pennant and the World Series championship, solidifying their place as a force to be reckoned with in Major League Baseball.
