Chicago (City Model)

thingiverse

A meticulously crafted 3D model of downtown Chicago, precision-made using measurements from Google Earth, is taking shape. This ongoing project will periodically be updated as larger sections of the city are completed. The plan is to fully model the area bounded by the Kennedy Expressway on the west, Division Street on the north, Congress on the south, and the lake to the east. Once that area is complete, consideration may be given to extending the area east of the river past Roosevelt to include the South Loop and Museum Campus. Designed for printing at a 1:15,000 scale (15% for those using Cura), the completed downtown will measure approximately 7 inches wide from east to west by 8.25 inches long from north to south (21cm x 18cm). Navy Pier will extend an extra ~3 inches (8.4cm). A comprehensive STL file of the entire city as one continuous model is included, along with a zip file containing models of the city split into blocks. The zip file features a map illustrating how each block fits together. Last updated on December 11th, 2019
