Chiappa M1-22 Magazine

Chiappa M1-22 Magazine

Aftermarket magazine designed specifically for the Chiappa M1-22 rifle. I printed this mag upright at .100 micron layer height with supports, only needed for the retaining plate slot. Printing one at .200 micron layer height does work but sounds like a washboard when the follower moves up and down. (.100 microns is much smoother) The rear locking lugs don't need supports; instead, I added a 40-degree climb working up to them to save material and negate any support needs. After printing, cut the angle off with a razor blade to make the bottoms of the lugs square for proper fitment into the mag catch. Everything is printable except for the spring; you may be able to find a suitable replacement at your local hardware store. I left out the viewing window on the side of the mag. Frankly, I never used it anyway, and it's just another way for contaminants to get into the mag. Removal of supports can be tricky but not impossible. I used a dental pick with great success. A few spots may need to be trimmed up a bit with the razor blade to help smooth out the followers' flow. I used Proto Pasta Carbon Fiber PLA for the print and it seems to be working great, everything fit together very well with little prep work. Also, as a side note, The M1-22's have a set screw for adjusting the amount of play the magazine has while in the mag bay. This set screw may need to be adjusted for more reliable feeding.
