Chevy S-10 throttle cable clip
thingiverse
This is a custom throttle/cruise control cable clip designed specifically for the 2001 Chevy S-10 equipped with the powerful 4.3L Vortec V6 engine. The original factory clip had degraded and broken, resulting in unwanted movement and friction on the cables. To address this issue, I created a two-piece part that snaps together over the metal ferrule and then securely clips into place over the engine plate, effectively keeping the cables from moving freely. Notably, both the throttle and cruise control cables utilize the same clip, but with opposite orientations due to distinct tabs on each clip that match specific notches on the cable plate. For this project, I chose PETG as the printing material, known for its excellent flexibility and heat resistance. Initially, I experimented with PLA, but unfortunately, the delicate "wings" of the clip would break off during installation into the engine plate due to their fragile nature. In contrast, the PETG clips proved to be robust and reliable, providing a snug fit that effectively holds the cables in place - at least for now, given the limited testing period. For optimal results, I recommend printing this part at a low layer height of 0.2mm with 100% infill, without any support structures, and at a slower print speed of around 30mm/s.
