Chevy Impala Arm Rest Hinge Plate
thingiverse
I crafted this custom part to replace the original plate that secured the arm rest hinge in my 2000 Chevy Impala's center console. The stock plate was woefully inadequate, and it eventually gave way under stress, causing the arm rest hinge to break free. I designed the new plate with M5 threaded bolt holes as a precautionary measure, but I found that it fit so snugly into place that additional screws weren't needed to secure it. This design allows you to reuse the screw retainers from the original plate by simply popping them out and into this one. To ensure durability, I strongly advise against printing with PLA. Instead, use a high-quality material like Hatchbox PETG, which I used for my own print. As proof of its reliability, I can attest that it has withstood scorching summer temperatures in Phoenix, Arizona – a feat that should be easily replicable under normal earthly conditions. For those interested, I've included a DXF file of the base plate, which you're welcome to use as a template or modify to create your own custom solution. This way, even if you need to replace the entire plate, you'll have a reliable alternative at your disposal.
