Chevrolet and GMC G-Series vans were manufactured by General Motors for North America, sharing the same vehicle class as discontinued Ford E-Series and Dodge Ram Van. The term "Chevrolet van" refers to an entire series of vans sold by Chevrolet since 1961 on Corvair platform. The latest in production is the Chevrolet Express, while the G20 and its counterparts replaced original Corvair Greenbrier Van until 1965. The van's popularity is attributed to its low maintenance cost, size, and options, making it suitable for various trades like plumbing or catering. The G20 has a SB 262 4.3L engine, with minor updates like transition from carburetor to throttle body injection fuel system. Aftermarket parts are more available for its V8 counterparts than the small V6 G20 models, which however maintain good reliability throughout all G-series models. The 1964-70 G20s had six-lug wheels with a 5.5" bolt circle, while 1971-95 generation had 5 lugs with a 127 mm bolt circle. These vans used ball joints from Chevrolet/GMC ¾- and 1-ton pickups but their brake rotors from half-ton pickups. A light duty version, G10, was also produced alongside the G20 until 1975, using smaller bolt patterns common with short wheelbase vans.
