Chest locking mechanism, with key
thingiverse
Simple yet robust lock designed specifically for wooden toy treasure chests. The key I used was adapted from a similar design found on Thingiverse, specifically https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3748424. However, any key will work, even a screwdriver, making it an accessible option for kids. This lock is intentionally simple due to the fragility of thin 3D printed parts and the common issue of lost keys. The treasure chest I designed utilizes these hinges https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3721112 and these box corners https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2915060, providing a sturdy base for the lock mechanism. **Step-by-Step Guide** First, cut a hole into the box lid. Next, assemble the lock mechanism and screw it to the underside of the lid. Finally, use a Dremel or similar rotary tool to cut a groove inside the box as a latch for the barrel disc.
