###Chessboard - Magnetic Inlaid Style v3 ####G. Tielke, May 2022 ------------------------- (Revised version 3, the squares touch with no dividers.) Note: **Not recommended for households with small children** in case the small magnets get loose and are swallowed. Each square holds a hidden magnet (10mm diameter x 2mm thick) so this works with magnetic chess or checker pieces. ------------------------- Each square has a recess on the under-side to hold a magnet. Be sure to install the magnets with the correct side up to attract (and not repel) the pieces. The squares press and snap into place on the base of the board after applying glue. I use PLA Gloop (see https://www.3dgloop.com/). The border .stl file includes some extra rectangles to help it adhere during printing; remove them after printing. The border section snaps onto the outside edge of the base, after applying some glue. The base and border sections are 216mm square. ------------------------- I have included the SCAD file, so this can be customized if desired. ------------------------- Slicer settings that I used using Cura: >FOR ALL PARTS: 100% infill for more weight, >0.2mm layer height, >NO raft or brim, >PLA at 220 degrees C, bed at 60 degrees C. > >Base: Speed=80 >With Thickness=1.5 it takes 9 hrs to print. >It may be made thicker for more weight. > >Border: Speed=50; 3 hrs to print. I used some blue tape or glue on the print bed. > >Squares: FLIP 180 degrees before slicing (so the final visible side is on top). >Speed=50; Print at least 32 of each color (I print extra and use the best ones). >It took 8 hours to print each set of 20. Filament colors: Base: Gray PLA Border: Black PETG (at 240 degrees C) Squares: Black PLA, Marble white PLA. I like this marble white PLA: DURAMIC 3D Premium PLA Plus ------------------------- Also see: Magnetic Chess Set https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5203656
