Chessboard - Click into place, Four piece, Large 40x40cm
thingiverse
SUMMARY: This is my take at a click into place chessboard. I designed this to get a 40x40cm chessboard printable with the bed size of the Ender 3 Pro. I use it with the beautiful Bauhaus inspired chess set with the main figures scaled to 4 cm. I'm sure you could scale my chessboard down if you wish to, but I haven't tried whether the tolerances still fit. The inlays are optional as the optical effect of the lifted fields should suffice otherwise.I designed the inlays with a tolerance of -0.5 mm on either side, which fitted best (tried several) - if your printer is more accurate you can design your on 50x50x2 inlay. I glued the inlays into place. The click mechanism is strong enough to lift the whole chessboard with figures on top carefully and set it to another place if you grab it on either side, it will however not feel like one sturdy board that you can toss around (this depends on your printer's tolerances). WHY I DESIGNED THIS: - Relatively low PLA use for the rather large size (due to honeycomb underside structure) - Relatively sturdy - Easy to assemble - Stackable in a box WHAT YOU NEED: 2x Chessboard A 2x Chessboard B 32x Inlay in a secondary colour (optional)
