Chess set with magnetic inlay

This is an original set that I designed to use in hectic circumstances such as a moving vehicle. The wide base and tapered shape keeps the mass close to the board. This allows the use of less force to hold the pieces down and therefore a more natural lift when making moves. Materials: Superglue 32 x Any 6mm x 2mm wide cylindrical magnet (Amazon Link) Printing Parameters: I used .15mm layer height with supports at 15 degrees and 20% infill but I don't think there is anything too demanding here. Assembly: You can fine tune the magnet depth by stacking tape on the back of the magnet. This would be useful if you need a stronger attraction or if you plan on adding a bottom surface to the pieces like felt or cork. I put a drop of superglue on the inside of the chess piece then pushed the magnet in by lining it up and pressing it on to a table. I found that stacking two magnets before pressing it gave me the best results, seating the magnet all the way in and allowing me to remove the second magnet after . Notes: The current depth/width of the magnet cavity was meant to accommodate a 6x2mm magnet that would hold the piece with the minimum force that would still be stable. If you would like the cavity to accommodate a different size magnet or hold the magnet at a different depth please reach out and I would be happy to share or alter the files. These magnetic pieces will only work with ferrous metal or other magnetic material boards. The board I am currently using is a homemade board made form a 1/16th in thick sheet of steel with the squares screen printed on. I may try to create a printable board with magnetic slots in the future.
