Chess Board w/base
thingiverse
This is a two-piece chess board designed to be easy to print without the need for a duel extrusion/color printer. Print the two ChessBoard and ChessBoardInsert pieces separately using your chosen colors and then press fit them together. The clearances between these two parts has been modified from the original design to allow easer installation. Because this fit has not been physically tested yet, you may need glue to keep them together. If they have trouble fitting together, no worries, the tighter fit of the first design worked without breaking so be a little aggressive with it. I used a large hammer, a flat surface, and a cloth to force them together. As stated earlier, the new dimensions should allow for a relatively tight fit without much trouble on the install. In addition to the basic board, there is a file for a decorative base. ChessBoardBase 1 is the file for the single integral base. ChessBoardBase 1a and 1b are a deconstructed version to allow printing on smaller beds. The current dimensions are designed to fit the Creality ender 3 series printers as is. You'll need the deconstructed version of the base for this machine. The first two parts (the chess board) should fit directly into the assembled decorative base. NOTICE: Again, the parts in these files have not yet been tested with their modified dimensions. I will be doing test fits soon, but I'm confident things should work out fine. Any constructive feedback is welcome. Happy gaming!
