Cherry Picker (Cherry or Berry Picking PVC pipe attachment)
thingiverse
This PVC cherry-picker attachment fits snugly onto the end of a length of 1" PVC pipe, requiring precision in print and fit for optimal results. You may need to adjust the size of the hole or use glue or epoxy to secure it firmly in place. Mine was a perfect pressure-fit, making it a breeze to attach. I'll be honest - this thing works pretty well considering the challenges involved in reaching high branches swaying in the wind and maneuvering up to 10 ft. of PVC around obstacles. It's most effective when dealing with cherries that are isolated from other leaves and cherries, often coming in clusters. If you're physically able to reach the cherry's height, your hands will do a faster job. However, if that's not an option, this handy tool will get the job done, albeit slower and more tedious. I designed this attachment using OpenSCAD, and I'd be happy to add comments to my scad file or make it a customizable object if there's interest. As a cherry tree owner with access to 3-D printers, not an engineer, I created this tool to meet my specific needs. **Print Settings:** * Printer Brand: MakerBot * Printer: MakerBot Replicator 2 * Rafts: Yes (although they may not be necessary) * Supports: No * Resolution: Standard * Infill: Standard Note: I've used rafts to help stabilize the print, but they might not be required.
