This design is meant to hold a Cherry MX mechanical keyboard switch as a keychain. It was made in Autodesk Inventor. Instructions are included below for printing and assembling the model: Parts needed are: - mxKeychain.stl (one of these should be printed) - A ring or string - One Cherry MX keyswitch designed for plate mounting, whose manufacturer part number ends with "N". Digikey offers some options for this part - A Cherry MX Keycap Directions: - Print the model so that its flat side faces down. In this case, I used a Makerbot Replicator 2 with a resolution of 100µm. - Cut off the leads on your switch before you can install it into place. - Carefully push the switch in as square as possible to avoid any misalignment during assembly; note that some gentle pressure is required as the fit will be very snug without any glue being needed for proper installation. In the case where carving out material on the inner edge of a hole may be necessary, a fine detail carving tool or sharp object such as a jeweler's loupe knife works best. - Your new keycap can now be attached in addition to a ring or string; these parts allow you to securely fasten your completed mxKeychain design.
