Chem Guys Big Mouth Foam Cannon Lid Fix

Chem Guys Big Mouth Foam Cannon Lid Fix

This is my second attempt to fix this Chemical Guys Torq Big Mouth foam cannon whose lid design is so totally defective it won't stay on. The lid only threads on about 1/4 of a turn, leaving insufficient thread engagement to keep it securely in place. Bump it? It comes off, and set your wand/foam cannon down on the driveway, the lid comes off, spilling soap all over the place. My first solution, a little pin to prevent the lid from loosening, was not entirely successful. I had it come apart once with that in place when I put the thing down on my driveway. The plastic canister is so flexible and there's such little thread engagement that it can pop off even without unscrewing. First, if you bought one of these, return it immediately. If that's not possible, here's a fix: print the top and base pieces. The top snaps onto the foam valve and the base is a press fit to the bottom of the canister. You could also use some mounting tape to keep the base in place. Then, run a 24-inch velcro strap through the slots to secure the top to the canister. Light-duty velcro straps work best - a heavier one will also work but is overkill. These work perfectly: https://www.securecableties.com/24-x-1-inch-cinch-straps-5-pack. The base has some feet that make it stand up better when you set the wand and cannon down on your driveway. This foam cannon works great when the POS lid stays on. Happy washing!
