In SolidWorks 2012's Sheet Metal module, the default storage location for forming tools is C:\ProgramData\SolidWorks\SolidWorks <version>\Design Library\forming tools. To unzip parts from a compressed (.zip) file, create a "custom" folder under "forming tools". This process was time-consuming and led to numerous crashes while working with patterns.
