A check valve, also known as a non-return valve, is a device that allows fluid to flow through it in only one direction. This type of valve prevents backflow and ensures that the fluids flow smoothly in a desired path. Its design features a flapper or disc that opens when the pressure pushes it in the forward direction and closes as soon as the pressure decreases, thus preventing the fluid from flowing backwards.
