Cheap enclosure for Ender 3 V2
thingiverse
I designed these supports to enclose my Ender 3 V2 and print ABS without the shield feature, as in one closed printer, once to print this filament we should keep de temperature a little high, to avoid warping, delamination and cracks. In my tests, at a room temperature of 23.2 degrees Celsius I could get 43 degrees just over the X axis (that hold the hotend) and 49 degrees near the hotend. This cost me less than 5 dollars!
What do you need?
- 4 M3 screws with 12mm (the base support was designed for this lenght) - 4 T-nut M3 (I've used 4 M3 metal nuts with this https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3050607) - 2 meters corner guards with 15mm x 15mm (here in Brazil I've found in PVC that is lightweight): cut in 40cm size, 4 for sides and 1 for roof support (you can use smaller sizes in roof support if you just print small things) - Thermal insulation fabric (I'm using here one that is applied in thermal bags, very cheap): the pieces are 2x 40cmX10cm (front), 40cmX8cm (read, threaded rod side), 40cmX13cm (rear, display side), 25cmX80cm (roof, you can use a size that fits better for you). - Some velcro I printed in ABS but I think that PLA could work normally. Using 0.2 mm, they are simple pieces.
How to mount?
Fasten the base supports in v-slots. Only the front one at side of home position (0x0) should be mounted in the outer v-slot. All the other should be mounted in the inner v-slot, near of hotbed. Fit the corner guards in base supports. As corner guards have L format, always leave one side parallel with the bed side. Cut the thermal insulation fabric and put some velcro to attach the pieces in corner guards. Fit the roof support over the extruder (as in image). Put the last corner guard piece in the roof support slot. Using velcro attach the roof part of thermal insulation fabric. Here I'm using a big piece so it fall in front and rear, closing that openings. As in Ender the hotbed moves in Y axis, so, sometimes it pushes the fabric, without problems. The bowden tube and power cables support the fabric on the other side of roof support.
Considerations
Is it beautiful? No. Is it functional? Yes. Is it cheap? Yes. **Please test and if it was useful, you could donate something in ** https://www.paypal.com/donate/?business=PAUQEZKEC96GA&no_recurring=0&item_name=I%27m+glad+to+have+helped+in+some+way.+Thank+you%21¤cy_code=USD or just let me know in correajl@gmail.com. :)
