Cheap Boots

Just a little experiment how cheap and lightweight an hoof boot could be without R&D cost, not designed for extensive use. It's parameterizable to get a better guess on material needed compared to hoof sizes.Be aware ill fitting hoof boots may cause lameness, bruising, ... and high vet cost. For correction purposes or regular use get professional horse shoes. There is at least one company out there 3D printing customised shoes. This was designed without any knowledge on biomechanics.Use at your own risk. This is a parameterizable file created in FreeCAD 0.21.1. Sizes can be changed in the Spreadsheet, but might break the whole thing. Maybe I missed some topological naming problems or the resulting shape is unable to fit all the holes.About the design: I decided to orient myself on roman Hipposandals, after 2000 years their patents should have run out. Hooks are not sensible to be done with flexible material - instead I added some holes for chicago screws and from there the design grew.Shoe profil and roll-off point definetly need more thoughts.Insulated Drink Tube Cover or other neopren scraps turned into a tube should be useable as gaiters. The idea would be to print two straps.Crossing the straps at the heel and the toe helps to keep the shoe from simply sliding of.The straps might still slip over the heel bulbs, that is a design fault I have not found a solution for. Fastening the straps takes force and is not as easy as I hoped. The chicago srews should be secured using some kind of glue or you will definetly loose some screws.Hoof boots have to be parameterized so tightly that they don't twist. To further prevent twisting there are grooves also serving as water runoff and holes in the side walls also enabling the hoof to stretch.Any unnecessary holes from previous design were removed. Hoof width x length: 140 mm x 140 mm (in sample .stl-file)Never use studs on such flexible boots, common sense says that will lead to bruising.Buy cheap, buy twice.
