Cheap-and-easy model rocket
thingiverse
Celebrate Independence Day with this budget-friendly rocket that can be made in under an hour using a makerbot! This dirt-cheap model uses standard inexpensive Estes C-class motors and has flown well three times without a parachute or recovery mechanism. It reaches impressive heights but could pose a hazard to those nearby, so fly only in uninhabited areas at your own risk. Six fins provide stability, while a ring fin adds durability. The motor sits partway up the rocket body for better balance. However, this design may present fire hazards. To make, print the rocket body using ABS with default extrusion parameters and follow these instructions: trim any bumps, seal the fins with acetone, insert an Estes C-class engine, secure it with tape or glue, attach ignition wires, and launch in a safe area using a disposable cup as a launch platform.
