This cauldron was situated on the site of the sealers' valley in Crozet, where it served to melt the fat from marine mammals for production of oil used as fuel.\nOriginally nestled within a hearth constructed from pebbles, it was removed for preservation in 2006 during an operation led by TAAF and dubbed "mission Obélix".
