Chatton Sandyford 2 (May 2006)
sketchfab
Boulder discovered on Sandyford Moor, southeast of Chatton, Northumberland. Referenced as 'Chatton Sandyford 2' on the Beckensall Archive (BA), the stone features two cups, one deep and one shallow. Recorded by NADRAP Team 3 in 2008 and added to ERA with a description: "A single depression appears squared on an otherwise sparse surface." On the model, the cup looks distinctly cup-shaped rather than natural, but it is hard to spot the second shallow cup mentioned by Stan Beckensall. ERA and BA information can be found at https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/era/section/panel/overview.jsf?eraId=1030. Historic England's area scheduling is listed at https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1006548. The model was created from five stereo pairs captured by Joe Gibson of NADRAP Team 3 in May 2006, part of the full NADRAP archive deposited with Historic England.
