A uniquely shaped area of quarried outcrop on Chattonpark Hill, Northumberland, has been carved out. This carving is situated within a region teeming with prehistoric activity, as evidenced by the nearby presence of the Chatton Law Camp (hillfort/settlement) to the northwest and other carvings in the vicinity. Recorded under the designation "Chatton 5" on the Beckensall Archive, it was added to ERA by NADRAP in 2008. Motifs are scattered about the rock's surface, featuring cups, cups with multiple rings, and cups with partial rings and grooves. Some motifs appear more worn than others, which may suggest they have been concealed for longer periods of time. Photogrammetry revealed the possibility of previously unrecorded carvings and superimposition, potentially indicating different phases. The ERA record, including Beckensall Archive material, is accessible at https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/era/section/panel/overview.jsf?eraId=110. Historic England's scheduling information can be found at https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1006552. A 3D model of the carving was created in September 2019, based on 15 stereo pairs captured by Joe Gibson in January 2007. The imagery is part of the ERA/NADRAP archive.
