The initial thought of publishing this information seemed futile until encountering "Sumobot Chassis by langfordw." The EEEI Robotic Club at Rutgers invited students to participate in a line-following competition using a provided kit. A detailed description of the kit is available here: http://ieee.rutgers.edu/robotics/attachments/069_Kit_Description.pdf. To support those with limited soldering or programming skills, the club offered four classes held weekly. After completing these classes, participants were given two weeks to fine-tune their bots before the competition. The kit costs $65, but since I already owned an Atmega, I opted for the kit without the Freeduino at a reduced price of $45. This allowed me to utilize the Atmega and learn how to program it. The opportunity was too good to pass up. For those interested in more detailed instructions, I created a website (http://sites.google.com/site/rapidgeneration/line-following-bot) providing additional guidance, including documentation about building the large printed parts within the zip file.
