I'm an avid paraglider who always craves the thrill of capturing stunning selfies while soaring through the air. A chance YouTube discovery of DIY chase cam contraptions used by fellow paragliders sparked my creative juices, and I decided to design my own custom setup. My innovative design is entirely printable, requiring only a GoPro screw, nut, and camera itself. It's composed of two seamlessly fitting parts – top and bottom – that securely connect, ensuring stable flight when mounted on the trailing edge of the glider. The wind stream propels it forward, effortlessly following the pilot in perfect sync. My design is tailored to fit within the constraints of my printer size, featuring a precisely engineered hole in the top section for attaching the connecting line, which maintains the center of gravity and keeps the GoPro balanced. To maintain stability and resist any turbulence, I reinforced the stick connecting the fins – a crucial consideration given the extreme nature of this sport. Additionally, I beefed up the nut holder to ensure it can withstand the rigors of flight. While print limitations necessitated mounting the GoPro upside down, this isn't a significant issue as most cameras can be set for inverted recording.
