The Chase Motor Truck Company originated from the production of farm equipment. Aurin M. Chase, a former vice president of the Syracuse Chilled Plow Company, which had been in operation since 1804, launched production of a one-ton truck equipped with an air-cooled, three-cylinder, two-cycle engine. Backed by influential figures such as Paul Bellinger from the Solvay Process Company and Roy Grant from Grant's Hardware, Aurin Chase started his venture. That same year, he negotiated the sale of the Syracuse Chilled Plow Company to Deere & Company. Early on, Chase had a promising idea in the burgeoning automobile industry - a gasoline-powered "high wheeler" that could be transformed into either a truck or passenger car. The company's motto in 1912 advertisements was "The Emblem of Efficiency." According to the company, "Chase trucks are not pleasure cars; they're service vehicles." The growing number of repeat orders from prominent business houses was due to their satisfaction with the Chase truck's efficiency, which had been thoroughly studied and proven. They concluded that it was the simplest and most efficient light delivery truck on the market at the time.
