Charterhouse Square Corner Door
sketchfab
The doorway stands out as an unusual feature at the southwest corner of Charterhouse Square, where it intersects with Hayne Street in London. The building at this location is notably shallow due to the excavation of the Metropolitan Underground railway behind it. This railway was constructed in 1865, and its construction resulted in the demolition of the original structures here. I believe the doorway and newer building were erected afterward. The area remains unoccupied currently and had recently been part of the Farringdon Station Crossrail construction site. However, it is not intended to be a part of the new station, and instead is expected to be occupied by Charterhouse Square School and Nursery in the future.
