The variegated cowry is a species of large sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Cypraeidae. The shells of these creatures are highly prized for their beauty and rarity. They have an irregularly ovate shape with six prominent ribs on either side, giving them a unique appearance that sets them apart from other types of cowries.
