This is the DIYElectronics.co.za Charlie Struder's innovative adaptation of the renowned Greg Wade extruder! We examined various designs, each boasting unique qualities, but none matched our ideal criteria! \nWe seized upon these ideas as motivation and decided to start from scratch, seamlessly integrating them all into one comprehensive unit! This is V1.0, with room for further improvement; nonetheless, we believe this represents the most cohesive extruder system yet. Thanks to the designers whose concepts inspired us - we endeavored to incorporate their best features! \nKey Features: \nThe standard Greg Wade design serves as a foundation, utilizing an M8 hobbed bolt, 3x 608zz bearings, and gregs wade-style gears among other essential components! \nDual mounting options: the classic Prusa i3 X Carriage and the novel Prusa i3 Rework 4 screw mount - for this, you'll need the reworked carriage, found in i3 Rework E3D Extruder. \nThe birdnose guidler quick-release system relies on two M4x75 machine screws and a cam-style clamp, which grants users easy access to open the extruder without affecting the tension! This means effortless filament changes and reduced jamming - a major upgrade from the standard gregs wade! \nThe geometry was reworked to move the motor 90' degrees back, aligning the center of mass (COM) directly above the X-Axis shafts for improved stability. The E3D/J-head has been relocated upwards, increasing Z travel, print size potential, and decreasing moment forces on the carriage - thereby minimizing "wobble". \nThe mounting clamp has undergone significant enhancements, streamlining installation and replacement processes. Additionally, an extruder fan mount has been added for optimized airflow control. Supports and bridges were also included in the design, resulting in flawlessly printed parts even with less-than-ideal slicers! Lastly, spacious stepper motor slots allow users ample freedom to optimize gear meshing!
