Charles James Fox
myminifactory
Charles James Fox spearheaded the Whig party and stood firmly against Pitt the Younger's politics. A gambler with a penchant for taking risks in politics as well as at gaming tables, Fox briefly held office under Lord North as a Tory before swiftly switching sides to lead the opposition throughout his long and storied political career. Fox was a vocal proponent of parliamentary reform in England, American independence, Irish autonomy, and the regency of George, Prince of Wales. A staunch advocate for the French revolutionary cause, his credibility began to erode in 1792 due to the excessive actions of the French revolutionaries. This sculpture is a bronze casting based on Joseph Nollekens' original work from 1791, and it can be found at The V&A, The Scottish National Gallery, and National Portrait Gallery.
