Charge port cap holder (SEAT Mii Electric, Skoda Citigo-e, Volkswagen e-up!)
thingiverse
THE DESIGN This design is a straightforward answer to keeping the Type 2 charge port cap secure in VAG triplet SEAT Mii Electric, Skoda Citigo-e, and Volkswagen e-up!. It replaces the ineffective VAG built-in solution where the cap is designed to be held at the top of the lid. According to personal experience, the paint on the lid suffers when holding the plastic cap, making the original solution suboptimal. Two optional models are included: one with locking tabs and another without them. The latter is simpler but relies on friction for functionality, so post-printing measures are crucial to make it work properly. PRINTING The model is designed to be print-friendly and can be printed as-is, requiring no support structure. Despite its precision, the design may need scaling in the X and Y axes due to filament shrinkage or printer calibration issues. To ensure a proper fit, attach the charge port cap and test it – the fit should feel snug but easy to attach and detach. It's recommended to print with material that withstands outdoor conditions and has enough flexibility for locking tabs to work properly, such as PETG. A good layer bond is also necessary to prevent snapping of locking tabs. Printing at 0.2mm layer height with 100% infill gives the best results. MOUNTING Mounting the holder onto the lid uses a soft double-sided adhesive tape. Use a generous amount of tape, as shown in the photo. To align the holder optimally, use the slots on the holder and the casting marks on the lid, following the photo's guidance. When mounted correctly, both caps can be held securely in the lid without obstructing its closure when not in use.
