Character Stands for Games - Collection
thingiverse
I was browsing through my Thingiverse likes and stumbled upon this amazing design:\nNickel Stand for role playing portraits - http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:20656\nIt's a real showstopper, and I'm impressed by how clean and well-modeled it is - as someone who's quite particular about these things.\nKudos to U/Gilgamesh82 for creating such an awesome piece.\nThe only issue I had was that it requires glue for assembly - That's a major turnoff for me since I'm absolutely terrible with any kind of adhesive.\nSo, I decided to build my own version from scratch, using their design as inspiration, and managed to create one that doesn't require glue at all - It's just as good, if not better!\nI also whipped up some quick character examples with a dash of flair, and voila! The stand has two back options: a crossbeam for support (which is essential when printing on paper) or an open back if you want to print the characters' backsides or stats - either way, it works beautifully.\nThe picture frame fits perfectly in a 1" wide by 2" tall space.\nHere's how to assemble it:\n1) Print it\n2) Snap the nickel into the base piece (I used a pair of scissors to tap it down) - The nickel is optional, but it adds some nice weight to the stand.\n3) Assemble the top pieces and slide the paper in from the top.\nThe design should fit regular paper or cardstock.\nIt prints with no supports or rafts whatsoever.\nEdit #1: I tweaked the model faces and added a bat wing front version while taking a closer look at it, and realized that I could add some decorations to the frame without altering the print or adding supports.\nEdit #2: I added a monster front version.\nEdit #3: I added horse knight and axe shield versions - one of which is supposed to be a dwarf, and a goblin version with lower half decoration - LEGS!\nSo, there you have it - just a few examples of what you can do with the basic frame, and it still prints and works beautifully. Have fun experimenting!
