Chaotic Attractors Math 401( Math Through 3D printing)

For this week’s project we were asked to make a chaotic attractor. A chaotic attractor, or strange attractor, is, "An attractor exhibited by some dynamic systems for which the approach to the attractor is chaotic." (Free Dictionary) There are different types of chaotic attractors. They are all different because they have different formulas so that they can make different shapes. For my project I formatted and printed a Halvorsen attractor. With my project I wanted to do the Halvorsen attractor because of its structure. I liked that it wasn't symmetrical but at the same time was very put together. The formula was simple to abide by put I did some minor tweaks to the formulas so that I could get what product I wanted to achieve. I took some time because I had to very precise with my calculations because it could mess up the entire print. Going into printing I knew that my object would need a lot of supports because it was uneven. I was skeptical about the outcome because at any moment it could mess up in the printer. I increased the infill to 16% and along with the raft that is always included in the MakerBot I added breakaway supports to my print. I used white filament and my print took almost seven hours to complete. I printed with a classmate, nevertheless, I don't know what the time would be if I just printed my one object Overall, I am happy with the outcome of my print. I never had to print with breakaway supports so I was worried that my project wouldn't come out how I like it, but I am very pleased with the results. https://www.thefreedictionary.com/strange+attractor
