Channel Slot
grabcad
This practice model was created in SolidWorks. The tools I used during the making of its sketches were center rectangle, centerline, line, smart dimension, and centerpoint straight slot. To make this practice into a 3D model, I used the tools boss extrude, cut extrude, and fillet. I changed its material to cast alloy steel to fully define it. When I first looked at this model's blueprint, I imagined that the best way to start it was to create its sketch on the front plane and to extrude its main body from mid plane. I believe that extruding the main body from mid plane is an important aspect as it makes things more efficient and easier. If I were to create this model again, I would have studied the blueprint more closely so as not to make small mistakes as I did this first time.
