The handrail clamp, featuring low weight due to its thin male component's compressive strength above 1300lbf, allows for wide tolerances. The male portion has slightly interfering tips with the rail, while the female part clears and slides along the rail, engaging the male's tapered ramp. As it moves further, friction increases between the handrail and the male section. This design maximizes compressive and flex strengths over tensile strength. Both parts can be 3D printed together, weighing less than 100 grams, with each layer serving as a micro-locking mechanism. However, excessive force may make separation difficult; a hard stop could be added but isn't included currently.
