CHAMP design by Insero – Concept 3
grabcad
Introducing CHAMP from Insero in Estonia, this innovative locking mechanism design is easy to use and secure with its one-handed operation and fixed locking position that prevents accidental unlocking. Once assembled, the CHAMP remains a single piece, eliminating lost parts, and it's designed for simple 3D printing using ABS with an FDM printer. The key features include easy locking, attachment, and removal; a secure locking mechanism to prevent unintentional disconnection; and no separate pieces after assembly. To ensure maximum efficiency, the pin is printed sideways for increased tensile strength in shear tension and isn't required for force/stress when assembled or locked on the handrail. The main body cavities are designed without support structures, with a maximum angle of overhang at 45 degrees. The CHAMP weighs only 0.114 lb/51.9 g, measures 2.354 x 1.903 x 2 in/59.8 x 48.3 x 50.8 mm, and requires just one print. It conforms to all ISS Additive Manufacturing Capability requirements, including a rigid handrail connection, seat track interface, rounded edges, fitting the handrail envelope, no additional tools or materials needed, and suitable STL/STEP files for 3D printing.
